· no access, but the ability to approve users and reset passwords etc.

Query: If I don’t know the exact name of a provider can I input part of the name or insert wildcards when I search for the Provider Name?

Query Type: Training Issue

Application: PG-All

Reference/Contacts: PG Introductory Tutorial

Answer: It is best to use the exact provider name. However if you do not have this you can use part of the name which may bring up the required response. However wildcards cannot be used. If you don’t know the name of the provider or the UPIN, you can search by document type. For example, if you want to locate a college’s SAR, you can search for SARs; the search will return a list of all providers with SARs on the Gateway and you can locate the college on the list.

Note: This question relates to partners who can legitimately access information on a number of providers. Providers themselves will be able to access only their own data.

Query: Should I zip up files before uploading them to the Gateway?

Query Type: Training Issue

Application: DocX

Reference/Contacts: DocX Tutorial

Answer: You do not have to zip your files before uploading them, but there are significant potential benefits in doing so. Zipped files are smaller and will upload faster. If an SAR, CPR or PPR consists of multiple files, the Gateway may be less cluttered if all the files are zipped up together.

Query: What is the Refresh link on the Document List for?

Query Type: Training Issue

Application: DocX

Reference/Contacts: DocX Tutorial

Answer: The Refresh link will refresh the Document List with any new documents that have been uploaded but not yet displayed. If you upload a document to the Gateway and then return to the Document List while the upload is still processing in the background, the new document will not appear on the Document List until you click on Refresh.

Query: Can I search for a provider or document using part of the college or document name?

Query Type: Training Issue

Application: DocX, LAT

Reference/Contacts: DocX Tutorial, LAT Tutorial

Answer: Yes. If you use the Provider Search option you can search for the provider by entering part of the name into the Provider Search field. It is recommended that you enter at least three characters for your search. For example, if you search on “col” the search will return all the colleges with “col” anywhere in their name, including all that contain the word “college”.

If you use the Document Search option you can search by entering the filename or document extension (e.g., doc, xls) in the Document Name field. For example, if you search on “xls” the search will return all Excel spreadsheets held on the Gateway.

Query:
Where can the LAT be found on the Gateway?

Query Type: Training Issue

For more information on LAT and the Value Added and Distance Travelled measures visit the new measures of success pages of the LSC website (www.LSC.gov.uk/nms).
